We study how ribosomes directly regulate mRNA-selective translation and how these principles are employed in the innate immune response.

How does transcript- and species-specific translation by the ribosome regulate mRNA translation? We combine the disciplines of biochemistry and RNA and ribosome biology with innate immunity to understand molecular mechanisms and develop RNA-centric tools that will enable a better understanding of RNA principles in gene expression and in disease states linked to immune responses.
